Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If you’ve ever wasted time because your camera image rolled or your self-leveling head needed service, RIDGID’s newest SeeSnake systems were built to fix that. The Compact C40 DSL (RD70053) and Compact M40 DSL (RD69998) introduce Digital Self-Leveling (DSL), a software-based horizon that keeps the picture upright without moving parts in the camera head. By removing a wear component, DSL reduces service-related downtime and helps you move from: diagnose → document → next job, faster.

What Digital Self-Leveling (DSL) does and why it matters

Traditional self-leveling uses mechanical rotation to keep the horizon straight. DSL replaces those parts with digital stabilization, so the image stays upright and stable when used with a TruSense enabled monitor (e.g., CS6x Versa). Fewer moving parts mean better durability, fewer service calls, and a consistently crisp view that speeds decision-making and reporting.

You also get the full TruSense toolkit: High Dynamic Range (HDR) for clearer detail in mixed light, TiltSense to show the camera head’s angle on screen, and Digital Pan & Zoom so you can focus on any point of interest during inspection or review.

Compact C40 DSL:
Built for tight turns and branch lines

When space is limited but you still need reach and control, the C40 DSL is a natural fit. It delivers smooth push performance with 131′ (40 m) of mid-flex push cable, making it ideal for residential and branch-line inspections from 1.5″ to 6″ (38–152 mm). Dock to a CS6x Versa in seconds with the quick-release system for fast setup and a clean pack-down. A 512 Hz FleXmitter sonde is built in for traceability and precise locates, and high-intensity LEDs keep the pipe well lit.

Compact M40 DSL:
the same DSL advantages in the proven compact platform

Prefer the M-series form factor? The M40 DSL brings the same DSL imaging, TruSense integration (HDR, TiltSense, Digital Pan & Zoom), quick-release CS6x Versa docking, and in-head 512 Hz sonde, again optimized for 1.5″ to 6″ lines with a 131′ push cable. If you want the digital self-leveling upgrade without changing your workflow, the C40 DSL and M40 DSL give you two compact, job-ready options.

How these features help on real jobs

A level, stable picture shortens calls and reduces rework. HDR reveals detail in bright laterals and dark traps at the same time. TiltSense improves orientation when you’re confirming slope or offsets. Digital Pan & Zoom makes markups and customer reports clearer. And the 512 Hz sonde turns investigation into action—locate, mark, and repair with confidence.

Digital Self-Leveling (DSL) eliminates the mechanical self-leveling parts in the camera head, keeping your image upright digitally when viewed on a TruSense-enabled monitor such as the CS6x Versa. You will need a TruSense monitor to see the upright view along with HDR and TiltSense data. Both the C40 DSL and M40 DSL are optimized for inspections in 1.5″–6″ laterals and branch lines, and you can locate the camera head while inspecting thanks to the built-in 512 Hz FleXmitter sonde, which supports reliable tracing and accurate surface marking.

Specs you can plan around
(C40 DSL & M40 DSL)

Both reels share the same core specifications:
Line capacity 1.5″ to 6″ (38–152 mm), 131′ (40 m) push cable, 0.26″ (6.7 mm) cable diameter with 3 mm (0.12″) fiberglass core, polypropylene cable sheath, and a 2.5″ (63.5 mm) minimum bend radius to protect the fiberglass core.
– Each unit weighs 17 lb (7.8 kg) and measures 25″ L × 14″ W × 17″ H (63.5 × 35.6 × 43.2 cm), compact enough for service vehicles and small mechanical rooms.

– The 1″ (25 mm) TruSense camera integrates Digital Self-Leveling, high-intensity LED lighting.
– The 512 Hz FleXmitter sonde. Operating temperature is 14°F to 122°F (-10°C to 50°C) with storage from 14°F to 158°F (-10°C to 70°C), and the reel (without monitor) is rated IPx5 for jobsite resiliency.

The RIDGID SeeSnake Compact C40 DSL and M40 DSL bring a meaningful upgrade to everyday inspections: Digital Self-Leveling that keeps your image upright while eliminating a common wear component. Combined with TruSense HDR, TiltSense, Digital Pan & Zoom, quick CS6x Versa docking, 131′ mid-flex push cable, and a 512 Hz sonde, these reels help you diagnose faster, document better, and stay in service longer.
