When demolition work gets serious, you need a hammer that can hit hard, run strong, and keep up with the demands of the jobsite. The new DEWALT POWERSHIFT 1-1/8 in. Hex Demolition Hammer (DW-DCPS966B) is built for exactly that. Designed as the next generation replacement for the DeWalt 60V 41 Lbs. 1.125″ HEX Breaker Hammer (DW-DCH966Z2K), the new DEWALT POWERSHIFT 1-1/8 in. Hex Demolition Hammer brings massive cordless breaking power into the DEWALT POWERSHIFT platform with improved jobsite productivity, heavy-duty durability, and vibration control made for long days of demolition.

Available as both a kit (DW-DCPS966AG2) and tool only (DW-DCPS966B), this new demolition hammer is built for contractors who want corded-level breaking power with the freedom to work without outlets, extension cords, or generators.

Built to Replace the 60V 41 Lbs. 1.125″ HEX Breaker Hammer

The previous DeWalt 60V 41 Lbs. 1.125″ HEX Breaker Hammer Kit (DW-DCH966Z2K) was already a serious cordless demolition solution, delivering 41 joules of impact energy with a brushless motor, 28mm HEX tool holder, low vibration, and Wireless Tool Control compatibility. It gave users the freedom of cordless power while still offering performance strong enough for tough concrete and demolition applications.

The new DEWALT POWERSHIFT (DW-DCPS966B) takes that concept further. Instead of running on the FLEXVOLT platform, this new model is part of the DEWALT POWERSHIFT system, which is designed for higher-demand cordless equipment. With up to 45 joules of impact energy, the DCPS966 gives users even more breaking force for demanding demolition jobs while keeping the cordless convenience that made the previous model so useful on site.

Up to 45 Joules of Impact Energy

The biggest headline on the DEWALT POWERSHIFT 1-1/8 in. Hex Demolition Hammer is power. With up to 45 joules of impact energy, this hammer is built for challenging demolition work where smaller rotary hammers or chipping hammers simply are not enough.

That level of impact energy makes the DW-DCPS966B a strong option for breaking concrete, trenching, removing material, chipping, and other demanding demolition applications. Whether you are working on commercial construction, concrete removal, utility work, renovation, or heavy-duty jobsite prep, this tool is designed to deliver the force needed to keep the work moving.

Heavy-Duty All-Metal Housing and Barrel

Demolition tools take abuse. They get used in harsh environments, dropped on rough surfaces, exposed to dust, and pushed hard through long workdays. DEWALT engineered the DW-DCPS966B with an all-metal housing and barrel to help stand up to those demanding conditions.

That added durability matters for contractors who rely on their tools every day. A demolition hammer is not a light-duty tool, and the DW-DCPS966B is built with the kind of construction needed for repeated use on concrete, masonry, and jobsite demolition tasks.

SHOCKS Active Vibration Control for Better Comfort

Power is important, but vibration control is just as critical when you are running a demolition hammer for extended periods. The DEWALT POWERSHIFT 1-1/8 in. Hex Demolition Hammer is part of DEWALT’s PERFORM & PROTECT lineup and features SHOCKS Active Vibration Control technology.

This system helps reduce vibration felt by the user, which can lead to less fatigue and better productivity throughout the day. For pros who spend hours breaking, chipping, and trenching, lower vibration can make a major difference in comfort and control.

The previous DW-DCH966Z2K also emphasized low-vibration performance, including a floating mechanism for fully encased vibration reduction. The new DW-DCPS966B continues that focus while moving into the POWERSHIFT system for a new generation of cordless demolition performance.

Wireless Tool Control for Dust Extraction

Dust control is an important part of modern demolition work, especially when cutting, grinding, drilling, or breaking concrete. The DW-DCPS966B includes WIRELESS TOOL CONTROL, allowing the tool to sync with compatible DEWALT dust extractors for remote activation.

Users can pair the demo hammer with the DEWALT FLEXVOLT DCV585 60V MAX Cordless Dust Extractor (DW-DCV585B), sold separately. This allows the dust extractor to activate when the tool is in use, helping improve workflow and reduce manual start-stop steps during the job.

For contractors already running DEWALT dust extraction equipment, this feature adds convenience and helps keep the jobsite cleaner and more efficient.

1-1/8 in. Hex Tool Holder

The new DEWALT POWERSHIFT demo hammer uses a 1-1/8 in. hex tool holder, giving users access to commonly used demolition accessories. This makes the tool a practical choice for heavy-duty breaking, chipping, and concrete removal tasks.

For users familiar with the previous 28mm hex setup on the DW-DCH966Z2K, the new 1-1/8 in. hex format continues to support demanding demolition accessories while aligning with the new POWERSHIFT platform.

Kit and Bare Tool Options

The DEWALT POWERSHIFT 1-1/8 in. Hex Demolition Hammer will be available in two configurations:

DW-DCPS966AG2 KIT
The full kit version, packaged with the demolition hammer, two POWERSHIFT batteries, and a charger, making it a strong option for users who are entering the POWERSHIFT platform or want a complete ready-to-work setup.
DW-DCPS966B BARE TOOL
The tool-only version, with batteries and charger sold separately, making it ideal for users who already own POWERSHIFT batteries and chargers and want to expand their lineup without buying another full kit.

The main difference between the two models is the package configuration. Both versions deliver the same core demolition hammer performance, including up to 45 joules of impact energy, SHOCKS Active Vibration Control, Wireless Tool Control, and a heavy-duty all-metal housing and barrel.

The DEWALT POWERSHIFT 1-1/8 in. Hex Demolition Hammer is built for professionals who need serious demolition power without being tied to a cord. It is a strong fit for concrete contractors, general contractors, utility crews, renovation pros, commercial construction teams, and anyone regularly handling heavy demolition work on tough jobsites.

With up to 45 joules of impact energy, an all-metal housing and barrel, SHOCKS Active Vibration Control, Wireless Tool Control, and both kit and bare tool options, the DW-DCPS966B is designed for users who want high-output demolition performance with the mobility of a cordless platform. If you are replacing an older DW-DCH966Z2K or looking to move into the newer DEWALT POWERSHIFT system, the DW-DCPS966B and DW-DCPS966AG2 are built to be the next step up in power, durability, and jobsite efficiency.
