At Milwaukee‘s recent Annual Pipeline Event, the M18 FUEL Coil Roofing Nailer (2909-20) was announced. This launch marks an important milestone for Milwaukee as they expand into new territory, offering a tool that’s not only suited for small roofing jobs and repairs but also ideal for vinyl siding installations.

The M18 Roofing Nailer stands out for its on-tool storage for a vinyl siding tip (48-08-2909), making it a versatile option for contractors who often transition between roofing and siding tasks. This tool was designed to fill in the gaps where existing nailers fall short–offering faster firing speeds, longer runtime, and more versatility.

Milwaukee’s new nailer features a 120-nail magazine capacity with an impressive firing rate of up to 6 nails per second. This performance is driven by nitrogen air spring technology, which allows the nailer to fire more than twice as fast as many of its competitors. When paired with the M18 HIGH OUTPUT CP3.0 battery, the tool delivers an incredible 1,100 nails per charge—a number that can easily handle a full day’s work on smaller projects.

Weighing in right around average for traditional pneumatic nailers at 7.3 pounds bare, this Roofing Nailer provides the cordless freedom that pneumatic tools lack. Without an air hose to manage, you can quickly and easily get to work, move more freely across roofs, and reduce the risk of tripping, slipping, or falling due to the hoses or tangling.

Milwaukee designed the Roofing Nailer with convenience and efficiency in mind. It features tool-free depth adjustment, making it easy to change nail depths quickly. The pivoting belt/scaffolding hook provides added flexibility, while the dry fire lockout prevents damage to the tool and materials. Replaceable rubber wear pads (48-09-2909) help extend the tool’s lifespan in tough working environments.

A standout improvement over competing models is the tool’s simplified reloading process. Milwaukee has addressed the frustrations of dual-door loading systems by introducing a single swiveling door, making magazine loading faster and more straightforward.

One concern that contractors had with Milwaukee’s previous framing nailers was overheating, especially during hot summer months. This issue often led to productivity slowdowns. With the release of Milwaukee’s FORGE batteries on the horizon, which feature advanced cooling technology, we are hopeful that this new roofing nailer will maintain peak performance even in the hottest conditions.

Despite its versatility, some contractors have expressed a desire for a dedicated siding nailer to complement this roofing model. While the M18 FUEL Coil Roofing Nailer does the job for vinyl siding installations, a tool specifically designed for siding would offer more specialized functionality for contractors working extensively in that area.

The M18 FUEL Coil Roofing Nailer is now available for pre-order, priced at $379 for the bare tool and $479 for the kitted version (2909-21), which includes the 3.0 battery and an M18/M12 Multi-Volt Charger. The tool is expected to ship by the end of the month!
