If you were anything like this writer as a child, you always thought those glow-in-the-dark stars that some of your friends had on their ceilings were the coolest thing. I mean, to this day, everyone loves a good glow-in-the-dark moment, right? Klein gets it, they not only remember how cool those glow-in-the-dark stars were, but also how beneficial they were at providing soft light for easy identification in the dark. That’s why they’ve taken the ever-impressive glow-in-the-dark technology and have now applied it to a range of their tools, namely their fish tapes! Two new 20′ and 40′ glow-in-the-dark fish tapes are now available for all your short or medium applications both in the light and in the dark.

What is Fish Tape?

Fish Tape is a tool most commonly utilized by electricians, but often also used by general contractors, homeowners, and beyond in order to move and install wires inside of walls. Whether you’re pushing wire through electrical conduits, pulling them through holes in studs, or even moving internet or audio wires to different rooms, fish tape is extremely helpful when drywall is already installed and you can’t easily adjust where your wiring lies. This tool allows you to hook onto the wire and easily feed it through; think threading a needle, or, as the name implies, fishing! Available in a variety of lengths depending on the task you need it for, fish tape connects to your wires and can then be easily reeled in back up to the casing.

Why it Should Glow!

As you can imagine, when renovating a space or working on wiring behind an existing wall, it’s going to be dark back there! Electrical wires can be extremely dangerous to work with, even for the professionals, so improved visibility can be life-saving. That’s why Klein wanted to bring their fish tape to light. The unique clear case that the tape is kept in allows ambient light to suffuse the tape throughout the day, charging up its glowing capability that unleashes its full force under cover of darkness–or at least low lighting situations. This tape is perfect for use in wall cavities, drop ceilings, or conduit pass throughs. If you’re shoving a cable through a wall and don’t want to struggle with the weird fishing game to make sure the cable goes where it belongs, what better way to ensure its location than by affixing it with a piece of tape that glows like a beacon of Gondor? The anchor end of this tape even has a stainless steel connector to affix to Klein’s Fish Tape, essentially acting as a super flexible glow stick.
