Milwaukee is expanding its cordless dust-control lineup with the M18 FUEL 4 Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum with PACKOUT Compatibility and VACLINK (0971-20). Built for tradespeople who want strong cleanup performance without giving up portability, this new vacuum delivers 70 cubic feet per minute of airflow and 60 inches of suction, along with a smarter design that makes it easier to use while connected to a PACKOUT stack.

The standout feature is not simply that this vacuum attaches to PACKOUT. Milwaukee designed nearly every control, accessory, and service point to remain accessible while the unit is stacked. Its removable sliding tank can be pulled out and emptied without taking the entire vacuum off the stack, solving one of the biggest frustrations associated with stackable wet/dry vacuums.

Add in two operating modes, HEPA filtration, a nine-foot expandable hose, and VACLINK wireless activation, and the 0971-20 becomes more than a portable cleanup tool. It is a cordless dust-management solution built to move with the rest of your Milwaukee system.

More Suction for Demanding Jobsite Cleanup

At the center of the 4 Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum is a POWERSTATE brushless motor managed by REDLINK PLUS intelligence. Together, they produce 70 cubic feet per minute of airflow and 60 inches of suction, giving the vacuum the performance needed for common wet and dry cleanup tasks while keeping the unit compact enough for jobsite transportation.

Its four-gallon tank provides useful capacity without pushing the vacuum into the bulky shop-vac category. That balance should make it a practical fit for remodeling, woodworking, concrete, electrical, plumbing, and general construction crews that regularly move between work areas.

Users can select between two performance settings based on the job. Max Power Mode prioritizes suction for heavier debris and demanding cleanup, while Max Runtime Mode stretches battery life when continuous maximum power is not necessary.

When paired with an M18 REDLITHIUM FORGE HD12.0 battery, Milwaukee rates the vacuum for up to 32 minutes in Max Power Mode or 47 minutes in Max Runtime Mode. Because the vacuum runs on the M18 battery platform, users already invested in Milwaukee cordless tools can power it with batteries they may already have on hand.

A Sliding Tank Changes the PACKOUT Vacuum Experience

Stack compatibility is useful until the vacuum needs to be emptied. On many designs, that means removing everything above the vacuum, disconnecting it from the stack, and opening the entire unit before cleanup can continue.

Milwaukee addresses that problem with a removable sliding tank. The tank pulls out independently, allowing users to dispose of collected dust, debris, or liquid while the vacuum remains connected to the PACKOUT system. This design can save time during repeated cleanup cycles and reduce the amount of equipment that needs to be moved around the jobsite.

The vacuum is compatible with PACKOUT on the top, bottom, and back, providing more flexibility for transportation and storage. It can sit within a rolling stack, carry PACKOUT components above it, or mount in a vertical storage configuration. Controls, accessories, the hose, and the filter are positioned for exterior access, helping the vacuum remain functional rather than becoming a component that must be unpacked before every use.

VACLINK Wireless Dust Control Reduces Wasted Runtime

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 4 Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum also includes VACLINK Wireless Dust Control Technology. VACLINK allows a compatible Milwaukee tool or remote to activate the vacuum wirelessly, so the vacuum only needs to run when dust extraction or cleanup is actually taking place.

Milwaukee includes a VACLINK remote with the 0971-20. It provides on-and-off control from the end of the hose, eliminating the need to walk back to the vacuum each time it needs to be activated. This is especially helpful when the vacuum is mounted in a PACKOUT stack, positioned away from the immediate work area, or connected to a tool for dust extraction.

Wireless activation adds convenience, but it also helps preserve battery runtime. Instead of leaving the vacuum running between cuts, holes, or cleanup passes, users can turn it on only when needed.

HEPA Filtration and Easier Filter Maintenance

The 0971-20 comes equipped with a Milwaukee HEPA Filter (49-90-1900) to support the collection of fine dust and microparticles. A quarter-turn attachment design makes the filter easier to remove for cleaning or replacement, and its accessible placement means users do not have to disassemble the vacuum to reach it.

For jobs that generate large amounts of fine dust, the vacuum can also be used with the Milwaukee 4 Gallon Fleece Dust Bags (49-90-1939). These disposable, fully enclosed bags provide 98.5 percent filter efficiency and act as a pre-filter inside the tank. By capturing material before it reaches the HEPA filter, the bags help reduce filter buildup, extend filter life, and make debris disposal cleaner.

The fleece construction is designed for durability, and each package includes three bags. Installation is straightforward: the bag slides into the holder near the tank inlet and can be disposed of after use.

The three-pack of Milwaukee Fleece Dust Bags has an announced price of $24.99.

Nine Feet of Reach Without Bulky Hose Storage

The vacuum includes a 1-7/8 Inch x 9 Foot Expandable Hose. During use, the hose extends to nine feet for better reach around the work area. When it is time to pack up, it collapses to just 37 inches for more compact storage.

Milwaukee designed the hose with a high-performance swivel to improve flexibility and reduce binding or kinking as the user moves. A dedicated rubber gasket supports a tighter seal for better airflow, while the quarter-turn connection locks the hose securely into the vacuum. A gray identification ring makes its one-and-seven-eighths-inch diameter easy to recognize among other Milwaukee vacuum accessories.

The replacement 1-7/8 Inch x 9 Foot Expandable Hose (49-90-1976) is compatible not only with the 0971 vacuum but also with Milwaukee NEXUS Wet/Dry Vacuum models 0910, 0914, 0915, 0920, 0926, 0930, and 0931.

Is the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 4 Gallon PACKOUT Vacuum Worth It?

The Milwaukee 0971-20 looks especially well suited for professionals who already transport tools and supplies with PACKOUT and want their vacuum to function as part of that system—not simply attach to it. Its top, bottom, and back PACKOUT connections make it flexible, but the sliding tank and exterior access are what make the design genuinely useful on a loaded stack.

Performance is another important part of the package. With 70 cubic feet per minute of airflow, 60 inches of suction, and a choice between maximum power and extended runtime, the vacuum is equipped for daily jobsite cleanup while remaining portable. VACLINK remote activation, HEPA filtration, and optional fleece dust bags round out a setup built for efficient cordless dust management.

For Milwaukee M18 and PACKOUT users, this could be one of the most practical vacuum additions to the system yet. The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 4 Gallon Wet/Dry Vacuum with PACKOUT Compatibility and VACLINK (0971-20) is expected to begin shipping October 1, 2026, with an announced price of $299.
