Makita is going completely cordless with their new XGT 40V/80V max system of cordless equipment and tools. Cordless tools have long been essential across industries because of their convenience, but many are still not able to match the power output of corded and gas-powered tools. Makita’s current LXT 18V and 36V Brushless Tools can tackle 85% of jobsite applications, but the new XGT line makes the entire jobsite cordless and cuts the cord for the final 15% of applications. The 40V max XGT is a completely new platform of cordless tools designed to outpower, outsmart, and outlast the competition on high power jobsite applications.
The 50+ products in the XGT family are designed to bring the most power possible for cordless tools and equipment. The 40V Max XGT Battery powers both stationary and handheld tools and delivers 40V of power when using one battery, and up to 80V when using two batteries together for the larger tools. The 10-1/4″ Rear Handle Circular Saw (GSR02M1), 2″ Rotary Hammer (GRH06PM), and 23lb Demo Hammer (GMH02PM) can hold 2 40V batteries, giving them unmatched power for a cordless tool. Similar to the powerful 40V battery, the brushless motors in the XGT line are purpose-built with more copper windings to keep your tool working hard all day.
The cutting-edge design of the new XGT line allows for communication between the tool, the battery and the charger to ensure your tool is functioning properly. Built-in microchips in both the tool and battery communicate digitally in real-time to monitor heat, overload, and over discharge to keep your equipment protected. The fast-charging 40V battery with dual cooling fans communicates before and during the charging process to keep the tool from overheating. Additionally, both the tool and charger can detect fake batteries that will limit the functionality of your tool, and it stops charging the battery at a specific percent to save you time and energy. Makita has optimized their tool power with this new release by delivering 2x longer sustained power under a heavy load.
These 40V cordless tools are built with the user in mind to withstand any jobsite conditions. Each new XGT tool has an impact absorbent structure with a durable outer casting and cell holder to diffuse impact from high currents within the battery. These tools are built to last—their water and dust resistant exterior paired with the long-lasting 40V battery makes these super reliable and convenient for a long day at work.
