Milwaukee’s highly anticipated M12 Cable Stapler is finally here! This tool was announced back in October 2021 and is finally available to purchase! This is Milwaukee’s first-ever Cable Stapler, and it is going to be a game changer for electricians and cable workers looking for a more efficient and powerful option for completing cable stapling jobs.

What Are Cable Staplers Used For?

First things first–what is the purpose of a cable stapler? Electrical codes require that wires be secured down when installed, and in the past, this meant hand-stapling hundreds or thousands of staples on any given job, which, as you can imagine, is quite time-consuming. There are some manual staplers out there that attempt to do this work, but nothing has come close to the power and consistency that the new M12 Cable Stapler delivers. Cable staplers offer a quicker and more versatile option for stapling down cables that allows you to work in hard-to-reach areas and complete your project in a fraction of the time.

The M12 Cable Stapler

Milwaukee’s M12 Cable Stapler is faster and more powerful than any other stapling option on the market. This powerful tool can complete rough ins 2x faster than with a hammer and can sink up to 1,200 staples on a fully charged CP2.0AH battery. The stapler is super compact and lightweight so you can use it in hard-to-reach areas, and even sink staples at a slight angle if you’re working overhead or inside stud bays, so you don’t have to worry about perfectly aligning the tool. The moveable cable guides make sure you’re getting proper alignment, so you don’t have to be perfectly aligned when sinking the staple. This tool is meant to be used with Milwaukee’s 1″ Insulated Staples (sold separately) and can fasten NM-B sheathed cable (14, 12, 10 AWG) and low voltage cables.

The cable stapler has a 45-staple magazine capacity and dry fire lockout to prevent you from firing it with no staples loaded in. Additionally, the staple viewing window helps you see how many staples you have left so you aren’t left without staples in the middle of a job.

This is Milwaukee’s first cordless cable stapler they’ve released. DeWalt has had a 20V MAX Cordless Cable Stapler out for a couple years and it overall has a lot of great reviews. The only negative reviews we’ve seen for the DeWalt version is that sometimes it has issues fully sinking staples into harder woods and older framing lumber. We are hopeful that the M12 one is able to resolve this issue, so you don’t have to go back over the staples with a hammer after sinking them. This tool has been in the works for a while and has a lot of hype built up around its release, so we’re excited to see how it performs compared to the DeWalt!
