Impact wrenches, also known as impact drivers, impact guns, or impact drills, are some of the most common power tools found in garages, sheds, basements, and toolboxes across the country. We all know their benefits as a whole, with the ability to drive screws, bolts, and a host of other fasteners without the exertion of using a handheld screwdriver; for most people, that’s all they care about, and they’ll grab the most affordable option they can find and call it a day. Others, however, need something more than just a powered screwdriver, and Bosch is well aware of the needs of the people; they’ve implemented a slew of new technology in their latest line of PROFACTOR impact wrenches that are sure to leave both the casual at-home DIYers and the pros on the job not only satisfied, but genuinely pleased.

Take the 740N for example; at first glance, it appears just like any other impact you’d see on the shelves of your local big box store, but inside is a powerhouse capable of delivering up to 740 ft/lbs of fastening torque, and more than 1180 ft/lbs of breakaway torque, along with three different speed and torque settings for improved control and efficiency on the jobsite. The friction ring allows for fast socket changes on the fly, and an LED light on the front illuminates even the darkest of work areas. It also features an onboard user interface, which provides your speed control, tool status feedback, and the ability to turn the LED on or off, as well as a hardshell protective head casing to shield against damage to both the tool and the bit itself, and the BITURBO brushless motor allows for maximum power output.

The 770N is nearly identical to the 740N; it has the same BITURBO brushless motor to allow for maximum power output when combined with Bosch’s PROFACTOR 18V batteries, LED, onboard UI for various customisation options, and friction ring for quick socket changes. The 770N, however, also includes a thru-hole, giving your workpiece a more secure fit and you greater peace of mind while on the job. The high-torque motor on the 770N allows for up to 770 ft/lbs of fastening torque, and 1250 ft/lbs of breakaway torque along with the same controlled power output as before, giving you three separate speed and torque settings. If you’re working with particularly stubborn fasteners, or just need the additional power output, the 770N is a fantastic option.

You may also come across Bosch impact wrenches that have a C in their name, such as the 740CN. These impacts offer all the same great features as their counterparts–in this case, the 740 ft/lbs of fastening and 1180 ft/lbs of breakaway torque with controlled power output, BITURBO brushless motor, friction ring for quick socket changes, you get the gist–as well as allowing for connectivity (hence the C) to Bosch’s Toolbox app (iOS/Android). This allows for even more detailed analyses of tool feedback as well as more customisation of tool settings. Bosch offers most of their PROFACTOR impact wrench line with either full or no connectivity, so that choice is truly up to personal preference.

Bosch puts an incredible amount of care into not only their impact wrenches, but their PROFACTOR line, from the amount of power provided by their BITURBO brushless technology and controlled power output options to fine-tune and customise your own experience to the protective casings they use to extend both tool and bit life and their ergonomically designed grips that conform perfectly to the hand, even to the option of Bluetooth connectivity to further increase customer experience and personalization. Bosch’s goal with their PROFACTOR line is to keep the power of professional-grade tools while maintaining an affordability to fit every budget; to that end, they’ve succeeded tenfold, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
