Who wants a DeWalt 20V MAX 3.0Ah Battery these days? Well, DeWalt and Ohio Power Tool are betting that for $39.00 maybe some people will jump on them! DeWalt stopped producing this part for a short time, however, they have reintroduced it with updated packaging and freshly manufactured cells for quite a unique reason.

As a warranty service center for DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch, and many more top brands, we have seen many frustrated customers come in with counterfeit batteries that look the part at prices that seem too good to be true. That’s because unfortunately, they are. We’re right there with you in wanting the best bang for your buck, but unfortunately that often results in fake product on the marketplace. So, the goal with this re-release from DeWalt is to offer a $39 option at or below comparable counterfeit ones you may find on Amazon, eBay, or social media to ensure you’re using safe and legitimate battery with your tools.

Why an official 3.0Ah DeWalt is better than a counterfeit 6.0Ah?

We constantly get emails from counterfeit manufacturers around the world asking if we want to buy & sell bulk amounts of these knockoff batteries. The packaging of these batteries can be nearly spot on and hard to identify even from a regular user. Of course the labeling of 3.0Ah, 5.0, 8.0, etc. is up to the buyer and has nothing to do with what cell is actually inside, and we have even seen some that are completely 3D printed. Yes, counterfeits can be made with new high capacity batteries, but they cost more so that is less likely to happen, and they can make them with reconditioned cells or use 3.0Ah cells and put it in a misleading 6.0Ah case.

The only thing stopping a counterfeiter from making them cheap, mislabeling it, and selling them on Amazon is their internal moral code… Think about that for a second. Who’s responsible when that poorly constructed battery catches fire and toasts your work truck or house… You get what you pay for. That’s why getting the authorized Batteries and Chargers with a full warranty that lasts years is important for not only your wallet and tools, but also your safety!

DeWalt is not Making Money Here

Selling a New DeWalt 20V battery at $39 with a 2 year warranty is not about making money. The goal is to make it extremely difficult to sell knockoffs profitably since just monitoring the market alone is not cutting it.

Ohio Power Tool and all other legitimate DeWalt retailers now can offer a great price point battery that has all the backing of DeWalt and us trusted retailers. To think you are getting a better deal, you must believe that the 6.0Ah battery is accurately labeled and not refurbished cells. Additionally, you must have more confidence in the construction quality than DeWalt, so much so that you’ll never need to rely on any warranty.

Future of Power Tool Batteries

We really love this approach from DeWalt and hope to see more manufacturers follow suit. As a warranty service center, we hate to see tools fried from bad batteries or turn people away because they got ripped off by an Amazon reseller –thinking they were buying real batteries.

Hopefully Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch and others with major battery platforms will follow suit with a price point solution to address those that simply want a basic, reliable battery for a more affordable price. We’d love to see these come down in price across the board even with other DeWalt Batteries or Milwaukee Batteries.

This deal for the $39 battery is going from now until April 2024, so make sure you secure your 3.0Ah Battery now!
