Since the Fein Multimaster patent lifted and every tool brand got into the game, Oscillating Multi-Tools have consistently improved and become more powerful over the past decade. The latest versions from Milwaukee with M12 FUEL and M18 FUEL oscillating tools are all around amazing, and it really seems like a shame that equally impressive accessories have been neglected as the tools themselves have evolved. But that’s all coming to an end now as more brands turn toward accessory improvements to ensure you keep coming back for more–that’s what we call a win-win! Just as we’ve seen with reciprocating saw blades, hole saws, and most other cutting accessories, there is a huge improvement transitioning from traditional bi-metal blades to new-and-improved carbide. With that, Milwaukee is launching their first ever NITRUS CARBIDE blades for oscillating tools. Not only is Milwaukee promising an upgrade from traditional bi-metal oscillating blades in this release though, they’re claiming that these blades are a big improvement even compared to their popular NITRUS CARBIDE Sawzall blades, promising 2X faster cutting and 2X longer life verse other carbide oscillating blades.
“With the strides in performance and capability that both oscillating multi-tools and accessories have taken over the last few years, professionals are reaching for these versatile tools more often and for more applications than ever before. In order to keep up with these growing demands, professionals need a blade that can stand up to the wide range of heavy-duty materials they face in a day.”
JJ Beck, Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool
Milwaukee is launching 2 new NITRUS CARBIDE blade options, each as a single blade, 3 pack, or 5 pack (see below to shop). The Extreme Metal blade will cut more bolts, screws and nails than ever before, while the Extreme Material blade delivers the fastest, most versatile cuts in more materials like screw-embedded wood, cement board, plaster, drywall and more. The oscillating tool is considered a do it all, Swiss Army knife sort of tool, which is what makes it so popular among construction workers, contractors, DIY’ers and pretty much anyone that owns tools. With such a wide range of utility in both the tool itself and these new accessories, for most people it really just makes sense to have both options on deck for when you’ll need either blade.
These are also the first 2 blades to feature the newly designed Universal Fit OPEN-LOK connectors, making them compatible with nearly any oscillating tool you may already own. The new blades are reinforced around the base, similar to what we see from STARLOCK (not compatible), which will help to reduced vibration and provide better control while cutting. The new stronger connection maximizes tool-to-blade power transfer as more material is touching with a tighter fit. The OPEN-LOK patten with open-back design maintains the compatibility it has always had, fitting 100+ multi-tools, similar to DeWalt’s Universal Fitment System or Diablo’s Universal Interface System.
