Who is Ariat?
Founded in 1993 by Beth Cross and Pam Parker, Ariat (AIR-ee-it) was named after the race horse Secretariat — 1973 Triple Crown winner and subject of the second-best movie of 2010 (we all know the best movie of 2010 was the classic Will Ferrell/Brad Pitt film Megamind, and it’s not even close) — as a way to integrate athletic footwear technology with bulkier and less comfortable boots like those worn by equestrian athletes, and they eventually added general workwear to their lineup. What does all that mean for you? First and foremost, it means safety without sacrificing the comfort and support of traditional athletic shoes, which translates into the clothing they offer as well. Where some safety brands prioritize safety over comfort to produce workwear that, while functional, may get a little uncomfortable throughout the day, Ariat strives to achieve an equality for both.
What Do They Have?
With that, let’s dive right in with some of the apparel we’ll be carrying, starting with their bread and butter: the boots! At the time of this writing, TPO and OPT will be carrying 5 different styles of boots: 3 Western cut and 2 traditional. Each of the boots feature Ariat’s signature technology to disperse pressure throughout the boot and therefore provide better ergonomic support throughout the day, while their DryShield waterproof coating ensures water gets repelled rather than absorbed, keeping you dry in wet environments. Four of the 5 include a composite toe for protection from drops, while the 5th (ARI-10027335) features a carbon toe for added protection while remaining lightweight for all-day comfort.
We also have added 5 styles of work pants that are designed specifically for durability, comfort, and performance. Three styles are flame-resistant (FR), and most of them are ultra-breathable and moisture wicking, keeping you dry and comfortable throughout the day. Made of a premium ring-spun cotton blend and triple-stitched for extra reinforcement, this line of pants is perfect for a variety of industries and environments.
Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got a wide variety of short sleeve, long sleeve, button down, and outerwear shirts and hoodies to complete the ensemble! The short sleeve shirts are made with comfortable and durable cotton, and include a drop tail hem for additional protection while kneeling and bending, as well as ribbed collars for a secure fit. The greater arm mobility in the long sleeve shirts provides a wider range of motion for your arms during the day than most other long sleeved shirts, and Ariat’s VentTEK technology provides additional breathability. The FR material in the button down work shirts provides an extra layer of protection without sacrificing mobility, while the Sun Protection fabric provides additional cover from harmful UV rays while working outdoors for extended periods. A range of outerwear, from vests and quarter zips to hoodies and sweatshirts round out the collection, providing protection for a range of seasons and temperatures while still maintaining safety and style.
