It’s long been said that German engineering is second to none, and that doesn’t just apply to cars. When it comes to the power and performance and reliability of power tools, there are few that can match the quality craftsmanship, speed, power, and durability of Bosch tools. We often hear of tools boasting to match the power of their corded counterparts only to find out we’ve been blown smoke, but Bosch is able to put their money where their mouth is, providing the same amount of power you’d find in a corded version of their tools and including enough features and innovations to make your head spin.
A couple of years ago, Bosch launched an 18V BiTurbo brushless motor table saw in their European market (which you can see in the image above) to widespread acclaim. It was an impressive saw, boasting a decently fast 4,000 RPM and a blade diameter of only 216mm, and us Americans (as we’re wont to do) saw something we didn’t have yet and demanded its immediate release for our own capitalist hands to claim. It may have taken a couple of years, but Bosch has heard all of our requests, and have released a version of their cordless table saw specific to the Americas with even more impressive specs.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, wherever you find yourself in that spectrum, feast your eyes on the Bosch GTS18V-08N, the American version of their 18V cordless table saw. This table saw combines the power of their corded saw with the portability of Bosch’s phenomenal battery platform to deliver professional quality solutions anywhere on the jobsite. The BiTurbo brushless motor delivers up to 5,500 RPM to power through even the most intense cutting applications, and a large rip capacity of 25” to the right of the blade enables the cutting of large sheets or tougher materials with ease.
Bosch have also implemented an innovative rack and pinion design that works in tandem with a simple turn dial design to allow for quick and easy micro adjustments to get the cut exactly as you need it, all without having to tap or knock a fence into position. With restart protection, overload protection, and soft-start technology to protect the motor from electrical surges, Bosch have also ensured their saw is one of the safest to use on the jobsite, and Bosch’s recommended 8.0Ah battery (GBA18V80) is optimized to deliver nearly 2 times the runtime as their 4.0Ah battery (GBA18V40).
