They also introduced new testing for personal SRDs or SRL-P’s (Those worn on the back, connecting to the full body harness), including specific tests that led to previous manufacturer recalls. Finally, they aided in further standardizing labels and marking to make it clear if a product is within the ANSI Z359.14-2021 compliance.
In the 2014 revisions of Z359.14, overhead performance criteria were defined by SRD class: Class A and B. Now, with the 2021 revision overhead performance will be standardized across all SRDs. Class 1 is defined as an anchor at or above a dorsal D-ring and Class 2 is defined as an anchor above or below a dorsal D-ring.
